Challenge
Initially, this was going to be an AI chat bot heavy feature, where we guided the user through Dela AI to identify their risks and how to fix them. After some testing with the chat bot, it seemed that it wasn’t adding enough value in addition to me recognizing that users are experiencing chat bot fatigue with the current saturation in the market.
I opted to show the insights from our AI model in the card, with more actionable steps in V2.
Design
I wanted to make it discoverable, so I added a Project Analytics card where once you click in to a delay category, will take you to a filtered list of those projects.
From there, the Project Manager can navigate to a project and see the Project Risks card.
Design Continued
Once the PM navigated to a project, they could use the project risk card to identify what problems are currently causing potential delays as well as setting their risk tolerance. The risks and delays are driven by our AI model using historical and market data.
Risk Tolerance
I also added a drop down to allow the user to set their own risk tolerance, which will shift the priority and level for each of the risks. This will allow different projects to have a different threshold for what is on track for example a longer project may have a lower risk tolerance versus a shorter one.
Conclusion
This was a highly requested feature from several clients, and because we are using data from our AI model, it is strong tool to provide insights into projects, what and where the risks are, ultimately saving time and money for our clients. The next iteration would be to use the chatbot to help them mitigate the selected risk.
